Profession Bonuses and Perks

Engineering provides powerful, self-only glove enchants called "tinkers." These offer a significant primary stat boost on a one-minute cooldown. Engineers also get access to unique helmet goggles with special cogwheel sockets, as well as tinkers for their belt and cloak.

Glove Tinker

Other Tools

These aren't all the available Tinkers, just the ones worth mentioning. Most players will probably end up using one of these:

  • Belt: Watergliding Jets - Allows you to walk on water and swim quickly.
  • Belt: Nitro Boosts - Greatly increase run speed for 5 sec.
  • Cloak: Goblin Glider - Deploys a glider to fall slowly for 30 seconds, great for avoiding fall damage and traveling.
  • Teleport: Wormhole Generator: Pandaria -Teleports you to a random location in Pandaria. (15 min Cooldown)

Epic Goggles (ilvl 476)

Engineers can craft their own epic helms in MoP Classic. These Bind on Pickup goggles come with two Cogwheel sockets, letting you customize your stats.

Cogwheels are cheap to craft and provide +600 to secondary stats like Crit, Haste, Mastery, Expertise, Hit, Parry, Dodge, or Spirit.

Engineering Specializations

There is no in-game power associated with any of the specializations at max level. The only difference is the access to different toys.

I made a list of useful toys, pets, and mounts that Engineers can craft. These can help you decide which specialization to pick. The list doesn't cover every item, most are cosmetic or not very useful while leveling or at max level.

Specialization Quests

To Become a Gnomish or Goblin Engineer, you have to complete the Gnomish Engineering or the Goblin Engineering quest.
