This Heavy Leather farming guide will show you the places that I use for farming Heavy Leather in Classic. The guide can be used for TBC and WotLK because there were no major changes to the old zones.
Heavy Leather

Dustwallow Marsh
Stonemaul Ruins in Dustwallow Marsh is one the best place to farm Heavy Leather because the mobs often drop two pieces of leather instead of one.
You will actually get more Thick Leather than Heavy Leather, but the amount of Heavy Leather you get is still on par with the other places in this guide while also getting around 50% more leather in total. (Thick and Heavy combined). If you only want to get Heavy Leather, then Stranglethorn Vale is better.
If they don't respawn fast enough for you, you can do one lap around Onyxia's lair until you wait for respawns.
Level range: 40-44
Stranglethorn Vale
The Jungle Stalkers and Young Jungle Stalkers in Stranglethorn Vale have a high chance of dropping Heavy Leather (80%), but they are a bit spread apart. There are enough mobs that you can farm here without downtime.
Level range: 40-41
Feralas
The Enraged Feral Scars, Hulking Feral Scars, and Feral Scar Yetis in this cave respawn fast enough that you don't have to wait for respawns. The Heavy Leather drop rate is lower than in Stranglethorn Vale, but you will get more leather overall since you will kill more mobs. (you will get around 55% Thick and 45% Heavy)
Level range: 43-46
Feralas (alternative)
Farming Frayfeather Hippogryphs is a good alternative if someone is already farming the Yeti cave.
Level range: 43-47
Alterac Mountains
This place is mainly for lower-level players trying to farm Heavy Leather. High-level characters will kill these too fast and have to wait for respawns. The Mountain Yetis and Giant Yetis are 8-10 levels lower than the other mobs in this list.
Level range: 32-34
