MoP Classic Skinning Leveling Guide 1-600

This MoP Classic Skinning Leveling Guide will show you the fastest way to level Skinning up from 1 to 600 in Mists of Pandaria Classic. The guide is aimed at higher-level players who want to switch their profession at higher levels, but lower-level players can also use it.

1 - 70

Visit these trainers to learn Skinning:

IMPORTANT! Buy a Skinning Knife! You will need it to reach certain Skinning levels!

Horde players can buy it directly from the trainer, but Alliance players will need to get it from Tharynn Bouden. He's easy to find. Look for him under the wagon at the T-intersection in Goldshire.

You don't actually need a skinning knife to skin mobs, but you will need the +10 Skinning skill to reach certain Skinning levels, so it's better to buy it now than to forget about it later. It does not need to be equipped.

Travel between the two pig farms in Durotar. The respawn rate is fast enough that you will never run out of mobs.

Durotar

Stonetusk Boars at The Maclure Vineyards in Elwynn Forest respawn very quickly, so you can farm them without any downtime.

Tip: If you have a spammable ranged ability, it's better to kill a bunch of boars first for about a minute, then go back to loot and skin them. This way, the corpses are grouped up and you can take advantage of AoE looting instead of looting each one individually.

Elwynn Forest

70 - 125

Visit your trainer in Orgrimmar / Elwynn Forest again and learn the next rank of Skinning.

Make sure that you buy a Skinning Knife from the trainer before you leave!

Silverpine Forest

There are always at least 4-5 Marsh Crocolisks at the marked location, so they often respawn right on top of you after you kill one if that kill would have reduced their numbers below 4.

At first you will only be able to skin the level 18 mobs, so you have to kill and skin at least 10 of them to reach Skinning 80.

Loch Modan

You can find a lot of Mudbelly Boars and Loch Crocolisk around the marked area.

Loch Modan Skinning map

125 - 185

Visit your trainer and learn the next rank of Skinning. For Horde, the closest trainer is Killian Hagey in Undercity. Alliance players can learn it from Balthus Stoneflayer in Ironforge.

Tip: Clear your bags before heading to the next spot. You'll get a lot of loot, and without enough space, you'll end up destroying grey items constantly.

Go to the road east of Greenwarden's Grove in Wetlands and you will see a bunch Dragonmaw Whelpstealers fighting Ebon Slavehunters.

Wetlands

Look for the spot on the road where 3 Dragonmaw Whelpstealers are fighting the 2 Ebon Slavehunters.

  1. Use an AoE ability to kill all 5 mobs.
  2. Loot them and skin the Ebon Slavehunters.
  3. The respawn rate is fast enough that once you finished skinning the 2nd Ebon Slavehunter, 2 new will be there already.

185 - 225

Go to Badlands and enter the Uldaman dungeon.

The instance has two entrances. It's easier to enter from the one marked on the map below.

Badlands - Uldaman Entrance

Kill and skin every beast inside the marked area. One full clear of Uldaman should be enough to reach 225 Skinning, but you don't need exactly 225. You just need at least 200 to learn the next rank. Use the same entrance to exit the instance.

Uldaman Map

225-300

Visit your trainer and learn the next rank of Skinning. For Horde, it's usually fastest to use your Hearthstone, then take the Twilight Highlands portal in Orgrimmar and fly to Badlands. Alliance players can visit the same trainer as before in Ironforge.

225-250

Go back to Uldaman and clear it one more time for a quick 25 skill points. You will probably need to reset the instance before going in. Right-click your portrait and select "Reset All Instances".

250-300

Now go to Burning Steppes and kill Dragonkin and Beasts around the marked area.

Burning Steppes

300 - 350

Fly to Blasted Lands and enter the Dark Portal in the center of the zone to reach Hellfire Peninsula. You can also use the portal in Stormwind or Orgrimmar to go there directly.

Learn the Master Skinning skill from these trainers:

  • Horde: Moorutu in Hellfire Peninsula at Thrallmar. He's near the inn, hiding behind a mammoth bone.
  • Alliance: Jelena Nightsky in Hellfire Peninsula at Honor Hold. She's in the inn, right before the stairs.

300-320

Buy a Skinning Knife if you haven't already. You will need it to skin the level 61 mobs. You can buy one from Barim Spilthoof or Brumman.

Kill and skin Razorfang Hatchlings and Razorfang Ravagers.

Hellfire Peninsula

320-350

Kill and skin Talbuks and Clefthoofs around the marked area.

Nagrand

350-425

You can learn Grand Master Skinning from these NPCs:

350-395

You’ll find packs of Wooly Rhino Matriarchs and Wooly Rhino Calves roaming north and south of Warsong Hold. The respawn rate is quick, so you should never run out of mobs to kill.

Farming north of Warsong Hold is usually better, but if someone else is already there, you can farm in the south.

Borean Tundra

395-425

You’ll find a lot of Hardknuckle Foragers and Hardknuckle Chargers around Frenzyheart Hill in Sholazar Basin.

Sholazar Basin

425-500

Learn Illustrious Grand Master Skinning from Tiponi Stormwhisper or Trapper Jack in Borean Tundra.

Go to the Oculus entrance in Borean Tundra and enter the portal in the middle.

Borean Tundra - Oculus Entrance

Clear the first floor in Oculus until you reach 500. It will take 3-4 dungeon resets. You can reset the instance by right-clicking your portrait and selecting "Reset All Instances".

MoP Classic Skinning (500-600)

You can learn the MoP Classic Skinning from one of these skinning trainers below:

The Jade Forest:

500-550

Kill Wyrmhorn Turtles near the small lake.

Valley of the Four Winds

550-590

Kill Longshadow Mushans, Longshadow Bulls and Fluttering Moth around the Kri'vess tree.

Townlong Steppes

590-600

This place is only accessible if you have a flying mount. The Stout Shaghorns located here are roaming in packs of six, but they are not hostile which means you can kill them one by one if you don't have enough AoE DPS to nuke them down. The respawn rate is really fast, it seems like there is always at least one pack up.

Valley of the Four Winds

If you don't have flying mount, alternatively you can kill scorpions at Dread Wastes.
