MoP Classic Alchemy Leveling Guide 1-600

This MoP Classic Alchemy Leveling guide will show you the fastest way to level your Alchemy skill up from 1 to 600 in Mists of Pandaria Classic.

Shopping List

Many yellow recipes are used in the guide, which means you won't gain skill points every time. I added 10-20 extra herbs for most of these recipes, but it's still possible you will have to get a few more if you have the worst luck.

Leveling Cataclysm Classic Alchemy

  • 1-58
    60x Minor Healing Potion - 60 Peacebloom, 60 Silverleaf

You'll need these later, so keep all of them. It's not important to reach 58, you probably won't.

The Crystal Vial is sold by Alchemy supply vendors, don't buy them from the Auction House.

Getting a Philosopher's Stone for Transmutes

A Philosopher's Stone is required for transmutes, so you will need to make one at some point. This step is optional. You can make one now or wait until later. Any Alchemy trinket from any expansion works for transmutes, so you don't have to make this specific one.

If you're leveling a lower level character, you can make the Philosopher's Stone (level 35 trinket) now. The recipe is sold by Alchemist Pestlezugg in Tanaris.

Philosopher's Stone - 4 Iron Bar, 1 Black Vitriol, 4 Purple Lotus, 4 Firebloom

If you have a higher level character close to level 85, you can skip this and wait until you reach 500 skill to learn the Zen Alchemist Stone from your trainer.

240 - 300

  • 250-270
22x Elixir of Detect Demon - 44 Gromsblood

This recipe will be yellow for the last few points, so you might have to make a few extra.

You can make Superior Mana Potion between 260-270 if you have some Sungrass and Blindweed left.

Alchemy Specializations

At Alchemy skill 475 and level 75, you can start a quest for one of three specializations: Potion Master, Elixir Master, or Transmutation Master.

You don’t need to craft the items yourself, you can buy them from the Auction House. But I included the mats if you prefer to craft them.

You can only have one specialization at a time, but you can switch later by visiting your trainer and doing the quest again.

Materials Needed for the Quests

Specialization Items Needed Raw Mats
Potion Master
Elixir Master
Transmutation Master 4x Living Steel

MoP Classic Alchemy (500-600)

Visit your trainer and learn Zen Alchemy. You don't have to go to Pandaria to learn the MoP Alchemy skill and recipes. You can learn it from any of the trainers in the old capital cities.

Here are the new trainers added in MoP Classic:

Pandaria Alchemy has a significantly different leveling process. At 500 skill, MoP trainers only teach you two Alchemy recipes. These recipes will help you unlock additional ones as you level up. Since new recipes are discovered through crafting, there's no fixed leveling path. Your progress will depend on what you unlock.

500 - 530

Craft one of these potions until you reach 530 skill:

If you need an Alchemy trinket for Transmutes, craft Zen Alchemist Stone.

530 - 545

Make the Potions/Flasks/Elixirs you discovered previously until you discover more recipes. By this point, you should have discovered 5-8 new recipes. Always prioritize potions that use Green Tea Leaf since it's the most abundant and cheapest herb in Pandaria.

You will keep discovering new recipes, so try to always make the cheapest potion. Stop making recipes when they turn green if you can still make orange/yellow recipes. Only make green recipes if there is nothing else left and you still haven't discovered Master Mana Potion.

Follow this herb priority when deciding what to craft:

Green Tea Leaf > Silkweed > Rain Poppy > Snow Lily > Fool's Cap

Save at least 25x Green Tea Leaf, 25x Snow Lily, and 25x Fool's Cap for 575-600, when you'll need them to craft Master Mana Potion (the only orange recipe available at that point).

List of potions you can likely choose from

I've created a list of the recipes you're likely to discover. Mantid Elixir is usually the best option. This ranking is based on how difficult each herb is to obtain. However, if you have 20 Green Tea Leaf but 150 Rain Poppy, it makes more sense to craft a potion that uses Rain Poppy instead.

  1. 15x Mantid Elixir - 30 Green Tea Leaf
  2. 15x Potion of the Jade Serpent - 15 Green Tea Leaf, 15 Silkweed
  3. 15x Elixir of Weaponry - 30 Silkweed
  4. 15x Potion of the Mountains - 15 Green Tea Leaf, 15 Rain Poppy
  5. 15x Mad Hozen Elixir- 30 Rain Poppy

545 - 575

Choose only one.

  1. 35x Virmen's Bite - 35 Snow Lily, 35 Green Tea Leaf
  2. 35x Elixir of Perfection 35 Snow Lily, 35 Silkweed
  3. 35x Elixir of the Rapids 35 Snow Lily, 35 Rain Poppy

There are three other potions you can discover that use Fool's Cap instead of Snow Lily. If you have plenty of Fool's Cap, you can craft those potions instead.

Darkmoon Faire Free +5 Profession Skill

Check your Calendar in-game to see if the Darkmoon Faire is open. The event is available every two weeks. It starts on Sunday and lasts for a week.

During the event, you can complete quests for each profession and gain +5 skill points for each. Click here to read more about the quests.

575 - 600

If you haven't discovered Master Mana Potion yet, keep crafting previous recipes. However, if you've crafted the same recipe about 15 times without discovering anything new, your progress is likely limited by your Alchemy skill level. To continue unlocking recipes, you'll need to craft Flasks or Transmutes to increase your skill.

25x Master Mana Potion - 25 Green Tea Leaf, 25 Snow Lily, 25 Fool's Cap
